Guest Post: “God. Is. Love.” (Part 1)

April 17, 2014 Anna Schaeffer

Last summer, my friend Allison wrote a guest post about God’s perfect plans for our lives. Nearly one year later, I now have the privilege of hosting her on the blog again. But this time, she’s here for a three-part series as we focus on what this Easter weekend is all about. Allison’s about to… Continue reading Guest Post: “God. Is. Love.” (Part 1)

Guest Post: “Blog Post Fun”

May 31, 2013May 31, 2013 Anna Schaeffer

I’m really excited about today’s post! Not only is it another guest post, it’s also written by someone who doesn’t usually write. Allison and I go to school together, and I met her through BCM. There’s not much introducing I need to do, since she’ll cover it in her post, but I’ll go ahead and… Continue reading Guest Post: “Blog Post Fun”

The Last First Day

August 26, 2014August 26, 2014 Anna Schaeffer

Late last Sunday night, I sat on the couch beneath a blanket, eating a bowl of Froot Loops and watching Disney Channel (judge not).  As I went into the kitchen for Round #2 on the Froot Loops, I contemplated two things: 1) Who in the world decided to spell it like Froot Loops? Look, I… Continue reading The Last First Day

Welcome to my blog! It's a place of heart, humor, & hope. Like if we sat across from each other at a coffee shop and became friends. As you read these words, I promise to be real with you. I don't have all the answers, and it gets a little random over here at times, but I'd love to share this journey with you.

Roommates for three years, the best of friends for the rest of time. ⁣
Happy birthday to my mom: the one who gave me a love of books, coffee, and most importantly, Jesus. She models what a godly wife and mother should be, but as my family has walked through loss and grief recently, I’ve been reminded of how she also lives out what it looks like to be a loyal daughter and sister. She is generous and compassionate and patient. Steadfast and faithful and prayerful. Basically, I look up to my mom in so many ways. I love her a whole lot, and I thank God His perfect plan included me being one of her girls. ⁣
& then God turned the page and a new character stepped into the story. The kind who holds the girl’s hand and pursues her heart and gives her a dozen roses for Valentine’s Day.⁣⁣
Thirteen. My tiny sidekick, you’re officially a teenager. Somewhere along the way, I scooped you up and spun you around the room for the last time. You fixed one more meal for me in the play kitchen. Had a final play date with Barbie and her dream house. You grew too much to stand under my arm and measure how tall you were getting. I read aloud one more chapter in a funny voice. Played one last round of hide-n-go-seek. Sang a lullaby swan song. ⁣
Just a couple of tourists during Homecoming week 📷🌴🌺
Today was wild 🦒
It will probably surprise exactly zero of you to learn that I have been reflecting on 2022 recently. It is the Anna Way, after all.⁣⁣
When I woke up early on Christmas Eve morning, I grabbed my phone and checked the weather app. With the windchill, it was -1 degrees. That’s unheard of for my corner of the country.⁣
Jehovah-Jireh. The Lord will provide.⁣
